Bad Papa’s Bio
Joe Buck and Bob Bojorquez met in May of 2015. Bob was Joe’s realtor, and when they discovered they were both musicians, they decided to sit down with their guitars to play a couple of tunes. “I’m not really familiar with slack key tunings, so let’s just see what happens”, said Joe. When Bob started playing one of his original slack key songs, Joe instantly added his melodic lead to complete this beautiful instrumental music creation. Halfway through that first song, they both realized that they were meant to play music together. They quickly joined forces to become the “Bad Papa” music duo of Hawaii. With four full-length CDs and three single releases to date, they have another full-length CD in the works right now that will be released in late 2021.
Jammin’ Joe Buck is a blind kanaka music recording artist, songwriter, producer, and performer. He plays several instruments and performs many different music styles as well. He plays guitar, bass, drums, ukuleles, horns, and vocals. His guitar skills have been praised by legendary musicians such as Steve Miller, Joe Nichols, and Sammy Hagar. Three solo CDs and his own Jammin’ Joe Buck radio station on Pandora Radio. His song “Anger Management” was used in the instant cult classic movie Sharknado!
Bob Bojorquez has been playing guitar and writing music for over 50 years. He fell in love with the rhythmic and melodic sounds of Hawaiian slack key guitar after relocating to the Big Island from Southern California several years ago. Teaching himself to play slack key guitar, he started writing his own slack key guitar compositions. Using unique Hawaiian slack key guitar tunings, and some common ones as well, Bob has produced some absolutely beautiful Island music creations!
