Celtica Pipes Rock!
Honoka’a Peoples Theater
Doors: 6:30 pm. Show:7:00 pm
As part of their 2018 Tour of Hawaii, the Austria Celtic rock band Celtica Pipes Rock will play the Honokaa People’s Theatre on March 31.
The 6–piece band shows with its battle cry their musical direction: The majestic-mystic sound of the Great Highland Bagpipe elevates above the powerful rock band, the masterly played violin expands the unique style with symphonic-epic melodies. Influences of Irish Folk, Symphonic Metal, and even Gothic merge with the energetic Celtic music, full of lust of life. This sound, as international as the musicians – coming from Scotland, USA, Bulgaria and Austria and the spectacular show guarantee a concert no one will ever forget. Mystic torches on the bagpipes and burning drumsticks, thundering against huge drums, create a cultic atmosphere, flames, shooting out of the instruments, entertain every audience worldwide.
Celtica’s history started in 2009 when several European and US-American musicians got together in Phoenix, AZ to record their first CD Rising. The combination of the traditional sound of Scottish bagpipes with the power of a Rock Band promised to become a recipe for quick success.
Right away they played most of Europe’s major Celtic and/or Scottish festivals, taking them to Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, and Austria, just to name a few. Their first CD Rising becomes a Celtic favorite on European radio stations and a hot seller on Internet Music outlets.
In 2012, energized by their second CD release Oceans of Fire, Celtica was booked solid on the European festival circuit from May to September 2012, followed by a string of appearances in Canada and the US, including prestigious Celtic Festivals at New Hampshire Highland Games, Canmore (CAN), Oklahoma Scotfest, and Pipes in the Valley (CT).
In 2013, Celtica played at most of the biggest US Celtic Music Festivals: Grandfather Mountain HGs, Pleasanton HGs, Newport Celtic Rock Festival (alongside Dropkick Murphys!), Longs Peak (CO), Alaska HGs a.m.m., in addition to another extended European tour, including Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.
“Both our bagpipers are from Scotland and we provide a unique Celtic Rock experience, combined with (wherever possible and permitted) fire shooting instruments.
Audiences always enjoy a variety of fun music at Celtica Pipes Rock concerts. Given their varied set lists, audiences get to hear a blend of Scottish favorites—including jigs, ballads, drinking songs and classic love songs—in addition to modern rock classics such as “We Will Rock You,” “Smoke on the Water” and “Thunderstruck” and a variety of original songs as well.
