Gaining a reputation as one of the hottest contemporary dance companies in LA, Jacob Jonas The Company (JJTC) will make their Kahilu Theatre debut on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 7 pm. Ticket info below.
Led by 26-year-old namesake, Jacob Jonas The Company has gained an international profile for its honest storytelling, visceral performances, and visual content creation. In 2014, Jacob founded The Company with partner Jill Wilson and lighting designer Will Adashek to bring dance to a wider audience through collaboration, performance, media, and education. (@jacobjonasthecompany). Named one of “12 standout companies of 2018” by Los Angeles Times and “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine. JJTC brings dance into the world in new and exciting ways as the company has toured with its mix of contemporary ballet, breakdance and acrobatic movement. Jacob’s works have been performed across the United States including The Kennedy Center, Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and The Music Center.
In partnership with dance companies, cultural institutions and photographers JJTC has initiated #CamerasandDancers – a monthly and location specific Insta-meet combining the art forms of dance and photography through partnerships with and social media influencers. As a filmmaker, Jacob has directed and choreographed original dance films that have premiered on NOWNESS and in festivals including Dance Camera West and San Francisco Dance Film Festival. JJTC has partnered with leading organizations including The Metropolitan Museum, J. Paul Getty Museum, Seattle Public Library, New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Royal Ballet and the top influencers on Instagram, reaching millions of followers.
