Charles Michael Brotman and Guests
March 6 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm$19.99
Composer, producer, songwriter, and Grammy award-winning musician Charles Michael Brotman (with special guests Charlie Recaido and Karl Kasberg) will perform a Kahilu Theatre livestreaming concert on Kahilu.TV on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 4 p.m., with a talk-story segment following the performance. Ticket info below.
Brotman is a Grammy award-winning artist whose music is heard worldwide via film, TV, advertising, and streaming. He feels that music creation is a way of life. It means constantly learning, exploring, and engaging with others. Some say that it may be the ultimate Rubik’s cube; it is an endless pursuit that requires an insatiable curiosity and love of the art. A graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa with an M.A. in music, Brotman taught classical guitar there for nine years. He is a co-founder of the recording label Palm Records and also the president of the Hawaii Songwriting Festival that takes place each year on the Kohala Coast. His first two solo albums received critical acclaim, and he is known as a staple of the Hawaiian music scene.
Charlie Recaido (left) is a founding member of the acoustic guitar trio Kohala and has written and co-written many of Kohala’s songs. In his early days, he performed and toured with the group Summer and was in the center of the Hawaiian Renaissance of music in the 1970s, performing in Honolulu’s hot spots such as the Toppa da Shop and touring with and opening for Kalapana. Charlie performed solo tracks on Hawaii’s inaugural Grammy award-winning CD, Slack Key Guitar Vol. 2. He tours extensively throughout Japan and Taiwan with Kohala and periodically on the West Coast.
Karl Kasberg is a multi-talented piano, organ, and synth player. Karl has been seen performing in local clubs and resorts for over 20 years and is also a composer and producer.
