The Kahilu Theatre will present Grammy Award-nominated and multi-Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning artist Kimié Miner, in her Kahilu debut on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 7 p.m. Following the concert, there will be a talk-story session with Kimié.For tickets/info, call (808) 885-6868 or visit https://kahilutheatre.org/.
Kimié Miner is a producer, singer-songwriter, recording artist, music publisher, and mentor and founder of Haku Collective, a full-service multimedia talent production and management group. A Native Hawaiian, and mother of three, Miner is also the founder of MeleCraft Bootcamp, a pro-bono music mentorship program dedicated to supporting aspiring young artists and honoring Hawaiian culture and language.
Her parents, of Hawaiian and Portuguese descent, noticed Kimié’s affinity for music when she was very young. At 14, she taught herself to play guitar and began writing original songs.
Kimié Miner’s songs frequently evoke the Hawaiian concept of the Piko, the “navel” or “center,” which represents a home base to which one can always return. She notes, “As Hawaiians, we have our roots and our routes. We know who we are, and we take that knowledge with us when we navigate and explore the rest of the world.”
Kimié will be joined on the Kahilu stage with her band for a multi-set show featuring some of her hits, including “Bamboo,” “New Day,” and “You Are My Sunshine.”
