On Wednesday, June 26 at 6pm, The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival (HPAF) will present guitarist Jeff Linsky in concert at The Shops at Mauna Lani. This event is free and open to the public. The program will feature a creative mix of classical, jazz, and popular favorites.
Award-winning composer and guitarist Jeff Linsky has been sharing his creative “pianistic” approach to the solo guitar with audiences around the world for over thirty years. He has performed in many of the world’s finest concert halls and played privately for Presidents and Royalty. With a remarkable gift for improvisation and an endless repertoire that includes many styles of music, “Linsky’s talent is the stuff guitarists’ dreams are made of.” (Guitar Player Magazine)
Lately, Jeff has added the ukulele to his repertoire and recently toured China in a jazz ukulele duo with Abe Lagrimas Jr. Jeff’s ukulele is also featured on jazz bassist Jennifer Leitham’s chart topping release Mood Swings. Jeff, Abe and Jennifer have teamed up to form the popular ukulele trio Left Coast Uke, with a new album in the works.
In addition to Guitarist Jeff Linsky: In Concert and their many concert offerings, HPAF will offer three mainstage productions accompanied by full orchestra, including Peter Brook’s adaptation of Bizet’s masterpiece, The Tragedy of Carmen, Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Stephen Sondheim’s Company. Performances of The Tragedy of Carmen and Sondheim’s Company will be presented at both the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea and the Palace Theatre in Hilo. A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be presented in Davies Chapel at Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
