Hilo musician and curator of Kukuau Studio, Bub Pratt, recently released a new music video for “La La La Together.” The video features behind-the-scenes making-of footage from the Big Island road film titled Stoke.
Stoke is a feature-length drama shot on Hawaii Island in 2017, and follows Jane, a struggling tourist who hires two wannabe guides to take her to an active volcano. The road-trip film was partially shot in front of Kilauea volcano’s famous 2017 “lava hose,” a 40-foot river of lava pouring into the Pacific Ocean.
Pratt’s four-minute music video, which showcases vivid Big Island landscapes and a fun, upbeat vibe, is a collaboration between the film and the musician. Pratt created several original songs for the indie film’s soundtrack, in addition to tracks from his latest album, Oceans & Bridges.
In addition to Pratt’s contribution, Stoke’s soundtrack spotlight’s several Hawaii-based musicians, including of Willie K, Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu, Keali’i Reichel, Anthony Garza, Uncle’s Awa band and more.
Stoke will play at the upcoming Made in Hawaii Film Festival at the Hilo Palace Theater on June 1st.
