The Kahilu Theatre’s Sunset Concert Series resumes on Sunday, October 25, 2020, with a show featuring Hawaiian singer Kainani Kahaunaele. This fundraiser event will take place at the Mauna Lani Resort’s CanoeHouse restaurant with lawn seating and dinner packages available. Ticket info below.
Kainani Kahaunaele is a talented singer who was born and raised on the island of Kauaʻi. She started singing professionally and composing traditional songs as Hawaiian language curriculum for theʻAha Pūnana Leo (a pioneering Hawaiian language revitalization program).
Kahaunaele garnered five Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards for her CDs Naʻu ʻOe (2003) and ʻŌhai ʻUla (2010), including Haku Mele of the Year (Composer of Hawaiian Song), Hawaiian Language Performance, Most Promising Artist, and the highly coveted Female Vocalist of the Year establishing Kainani as one of the most notable talents of her generation.
Kahaunaele has performed all over the world, worked with Hawai’i’s most talented musicians, accompanied the finest hula dancers, and witnessed children, adults, and kūpuna singing and dancing to her songs in countless school and community events. Weaving her life’s purpose seamlessly into her work, her music, and her relationships, Kainani embraces her kuleana – a dedication that shines forth in her songs.
