Markus Mars’ new album The Honoka’a People’s Theater Experience was composed, recorded, and mixed in front of a live audience. With a stunning length of more than three hours, this extended album takes you on an interdimensional journey and psychedelic trip. Mars invites listeners to “submerge yourself in an ocean of sounds and let yourself sink deeper and deeper until you reach the bottom. Once there, meditate peacefully or dance like a Menehune around the bonfire.”
Markus Mars moved to Hawai’i five years ago and began his live-looping career in 2018. The Austrian-born “human in an alien spacesuit” started his Earthian journey in the Alps. After being trained in classical music for over 15 years, composing for and touring with several Symphonic Orchestras and Chamber Orchestras, he started playing the drums and electric violin in rock, blues, world music, and fusion bands. He soon discovered his love for electronic music making and began performing and touring internationally.
Right after moving to the United States in 2008, he founded the progressive rock EDM (electronic dance music) project Fatmagic in San Francisco. The band released three albums and multiple music videos in collaboration with Grammy award winners Evren Göknar (Capitol Records) and Warren Huart (Aerosmith, The Fray). Markus received numerous awards, including the Hollywood Music in Media Award for best album and best song. Songs like “Get Down” and “Darkness” made it to the Top 10 charts in several countries.
During a one-year deep inner soul work period in Puna, Hawai’i, Markus composed, produced, and released the album Interdimensional under his DJ name Son of Mars. In this musical offering, electronic world music meets synthesizers and live instruments. His iconic live DJ sets include the Australian-built telescopic Didjeribone and his beloved custom white CR-5 electric violin by NS Design. The Son of Mars got signed by the Australian label Merkaba Music.
After sharing his talent in 30 countries with more than 60 bands and orchestras and playing over 3,000 shows, the plant-based food enthusiast Markus Mars moved to Hawai’i, where he found a volcanic foundation for his new endeavors. His present manifestation is an immersive Space to Earth live-looping performance series, created with a 5-string electric violin, a telescopic didgeridoo, percussion, and voice.
Markus Mars composes, mixes, and records his concerts in front of a live audience from scratch. No pre-recorded loops. No pre-composed music. Each performance manifests itself as a unique experience through present vibrations and elements of his metamorphic musical journey, transformed into an audible superfood for you to enjoy.
In his new release, Markus Mars transforms the “Static Noise of Ancient Spaces” into an audible superfood. He encounters visions of restless Nightmarchers in front of the beautiful Honoka’a People’s Theater movie screen. There is a lot of tension and relief packed into this captivating piece of music, so let “The Martian” touch your soul and join the psychonaut for a trippy Psylent Night. The Haunted Theater awaits you.
