The hilarious audience interactive performance of Mrs. Krishnan’s Party will be held on the Kahilu Theatre stage, Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 2 p.m. Ticket info below.

India Ink bridges cultures and expands boundaries with this utterly disarming new comedy that seats the audience around the dining table and at the kitchen bench in the back room of the Krishnan’s dairy. Now that her son is grown up, Mrs. Krishnan is thinking of selling the shop. It’s Onan (annual Hindu holiday) a time to celebrate life, death, and rebirth and Mrs. Krishnan has to throw the party of her life. This joyous, heartwarming show picks up the story twenty years on from the production that started it all –Krishnan’s Dairy.

Written by Jacob Rajan and Justin Lewis Indian Ink blends western theatrical traditions with eastern flavors in pursuit of ‘serious laughter.’ Live music, heightened theatricality, humor, pathos, and great storytelling are hallmarks of their work.  Starring Kalyani Nagarajan and Justin Rogers, audience members are invited to step into the back room of Mrs. Krishnan’s dairy where garlands decorate the ceiling, music flows, and Mrs. Krishnan is throwing a party like no other. Food simmers on the stove, laughter abounds and strangers become friends in this joyous celebration of life.

Watch the actors juggle cooking, music, and guests in an unfolding drama where no two nights are the same. Kalyani Nagarajan and Justin Rogers have reviewers singing their praises and audiences leaping to their feet in appreciation.

Indian Ink has won multiple awards in New Zealand and two Fringe First Awards at Edinburgh. The company’s international successes include tours throughout Australia and the USA, as well as sell-out seasons in Singapore, Germany, India, and the UK.

Ticketing for Mrs. Krishnan’s Party is a key part of the audience experience. The show is like a party and the audience members are the guests! With traverse stage seating and fun titles for the five different ticket types for the show, each of which is playfully named around the sort of people you might see at a party. Seating is limited for this production and reserved seats are required.

If you go… Have a good show!
