A cornerstone of American music for more than 50 years, The Manhattan Transfer will perform at the Kahilu Theatre Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 4 pm. Ticket Info below.
Founded in 1969, The Manhattan Transfer has built a legacy of a cappella, swing, Brazilian jazz, rhythm and blues, and pop music. The legendary quartet of Alan Paul, Cheryl Bentyne, Janis Siegel and the late Tim Hauser, were awarded 10 Grammy Awards and 20 nominations since their first recording. Trist Curless, from the Los Angeles a cappella group m-pact,became a member of the group in October 2014. Hauser lives on through his song as Manhattan Transfer continues to tour and record their signature music. They were inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame following the 2018 release of their latest album, The Junction.
Known for hit songs like “Route 66”, “Operator” and “Boy From New York City”, Transfer founder Tim Hauser aspired to form a harmony vocal quartet unlike any other that could authentically embrace varied musical styles, and still create something wholly unique in the field of American popular song. His dream of four-part harmonies without limits became a reality that swept through America.
With sold-out world tours and worldwide record sales in the millions, The Manhattan Transfer continues to bring unique and extraordinary, melodic, and jazz-infused vocals to new and established audiences that span generations.
