Following their many successful collaborations with artists like Grammy-nominated producer and singer Kimié Miner and Sonny Sandoval, lead singer of multi-platinum band P.O.D., TheBrewz (made up of Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning producer Chaz Umamoto, formerly of Streetlight Cadence, and The Fresh Preps frontman Joshua Stephens) are ready to take center stage with the release of their debut album, Good Catch. Rising stars of the Hawaii music industry, the production/songwriting duo are relentless, having produced over 200 tracks since 2019 — and now, they bring their reputation for artful collaborations, catchy hooks, and infectious beats to the record, which is out now.
“After my four and a half years in Los Angeles, I realized that I wanted to come back and be with the community and artists I care about most,” said Umamoto. “Our goal isn’t to be prolific artists but to support the artist community here in the islands.”
TheBrewz stay true to this goal on “Good Catch,” as it features some of the hottest up and coming talent of the Hawaii music scene, including Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winners Keilana, Izik, and Thomas Iannucci, as well as Monarch of Crossing Rain, Ragamuffs, and Bekah of celebrated K-Pop idol group After School— to name only a few. With catchy hooks, thoughtful lyrics about Hawaii, and TheBrewz’ high-energy production, the album evokes a summer playlist, one you can have on repeat as you drive down the coastline, making it one of the must-listens of the Hawaii music scene this summer. It is no stretch to say that this project is truly a “Good Catch.”
Good Catch also features Big Island artists Higgs, who rapped on the song “Stride,” and Chase Kauhane, who contributed to some of the lyrics featured on the album.
