Moon Brown & Friends at the Hilo Burger Joint (Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, 8:30 p.m.). Check out a very special show with an all-star line-up that includes Ed Bisquera (keeys), Matt Spencer (bass), Justin Chittams (drums), and special guest Larry Dupio (guitar) and Rainbow (vocals. JP Sears at the Kahilu Theatre (Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, 7:30 p.m.). JP Sears takes his uplifting humor that’s accumulated over 300 million video views and brilliantly adapts it to the stage for his live stand-up comedy show. Joining Sears on the bill are local comedians Justine Smith and Yasir Bey. Amahl and the Night Visitors at Kilauea Theater (Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, 7:30 p.m.). Amahl and the Night Visitors is an opera in one act commissioned by NBC and first performed Dec. 24, 1951, by the NBC Opera Theatre. It was broadcast live on television as the debut production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame. It was the first opera specifically composed for television in America. Armando Mendoza will conduct the live orchestra, and the show is directed by Suzi Bond, with vocal direction by Melanie Oldfather. Tickets are $15 general, $12 for seniors 60-plus and students and $10 for children 12 and younger. Johnny Shot at Gertrude’s Jazz Bar (Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, 7 p.m.). Johnny Shot is a popular 6-piece band that has a reputation for packing the dance floor with an electrifying mix of high energy rock & roll and R&B. Its playlist includes songs by the Stones, Springsteen, B-52’s, Pink, Bruno Mars and many more. Gertrude’s Jazz Bar is located 75-5699 Ali’i Drive, Kailua-Kona. Call (808) 327-5299 for more info.

Blayne Asing at Don’s Mai Tai Bar (Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, 6 p.m.). Born and raised on the island of Oahu, a self-taught singer/songwriter, Blayne Asing picked up the ‘ukulele and guitar at the age of eight. In addition to playing a variety of instruments, Blayne is a prolific songwriter with a distinctive voice complimented and charming entertainment style. Blayne has risen to the top of Hawaiian music charts and was awarded the 2016 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Most Promising Artist. Hawaiian and country/folk influence his original compositions.
