El Sancho, a punk rock band from Waikoloa Village, released its third song in the Stay Home Sessions single series today (May 1) on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, Google Play and other streaming platforms.
The Stay Home Sessions are a set of songs the band is working on remotely while social distancing from other people, including each other – sometimes created by the whole band, sometimes solo tracks by individual members. New songs in the series are being released approximately every two weeks throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
The latest single, “Nuclear Dudes,” is a fast-paced song about board games, beer, and psychedelic mushrooms, but more importantly, friendship. An alternate rough-mix was released on Bandcamp in March as a benefit for the Hawaii Food Basket. The Stay Home Sessions version includes alternate guitar takes and was mixed and mastered by guitarist Jose Colmenares.
“Nuclear Dudes” was recorded by El Sancho in their Waikoloa Village practice space in late March, shortly before Shelter-in-place orders were put in place. Colmenares and guitarist/singer Alan Kasameyer recorded additional tracks in their home studios.
El Sancho is currently mixing Stay Home Sessions #4, which will be released on streaming platforms later in the month. Their first EP was released on CD and digital formats in late 2019 and the band has released several singles throughout 2020. They plan to release a full-length album in late 2020, and maybe someday, if live music is ever a thing again, perform around the Big Island and beyond.
